Hot tub & shed removal

Hot Tub Removal in Cape Coral

An old hot tub costs about $395–$750 to remove in Cape Coral. We check it is drained and powered off, cut it into sections on site and carry it out through the gate. Sheds and playsets are taken down and hauled the same way.

A hot tub that hasn't run in years is one of the most common things people want gone from a Cape Coral lanai or backyard, and one of the hardest to move yourself. A full-size spa weighs 500 to 900 pounds empty, and most won't fit through a side gate in one piece. We take them apart where they sit.

How a hot tub comes out

  1. You switch off the breaker and drain the tub a day ahead.
  2. We check the power is off and the tub is empty, then remove the cover, steps and skirting.
  3. The cabinet and shell are cut into sections small enough for two people to carry.
  4. Everything is carried to the truck, and the pad or deck area is swept and the screws and fiberglass bits picked up.

On a lanai with a pool cage, the screen door is usually wide enough once the tub is in sections, so the cage itself doesn't need to be touched. A tub that was set into a deck, or built in place with tile, takes longer and is quoted after we see it.

Sheds, playsets and backyard structures

A lot of Cape lots have a shed that has outlived its roof, especially after storm seasons that tore off shingles or bent metal panels. We empty it, take the walls and roof down, and haul the lot, including what was stored inside. Metal sheds are broken down for scrap. Wooden playsets come apart the same way and often take less time than people expect.

What we don't do is structural demolition: block or masonry buildings, sheds with plumbing, or anything still wired to the house. Those need a licensed contractor and usually a permit.

After the tub is gone

Most people are surprised how much space a dead spa was taking. If the area underneath has old pavers or a cracked pad that needs breaking up, our debris removal service can take the rubble once it's loose. Clearing the lanai furniture at the same time is a matter of adding it to the load; see furniture removal, or the price guide for how combined jobs are priced.

Hot tub and shed removal questions

Do I need to drain the hot tub?

Yes, please drain it a day ahead so the shell and the wood are dry enough to cut. If the drain doesn't work, tell us and we'll bring a pump.

Who disconnects the electricity?

Turn the breaker off before we arrive. If the tub is hardwired and the circuit needs to be capped off safely, a licensed electrician does that first. We don't do electrical work.

Do I need a permit to tear down a shed?

It depends on the structure. Cape Coral's permitting office decides whether a demolition permit is needed, so we check with the city before taking down anything bigger than a small prefab shed.

Can you remove the concrete pad too?

Usually not on the same visit. A slab is heavy demolition work. We can haul the broken concrete once it's been broken up.
