In Cape Coral the garage does a lot of jobs: car port, storm shelter for patio furniture, overflow freezer room, pool storage, workshop. Over a few years it quietly stops being able to hold a car. A cleanout puts it back in one visit.

What a garage cleanout includes

  • Two people for the whole job, doing all of the carrying
  • Sorting as we go: keep, donate, recycle, dispose
  • Shelving, workbenches, old tools and broken equipment
  • Bikes, coolers, fishing gear, beach chairs and pool floats
  • Old pool equipment, spare pavers and leftover building materials
  • A swept floor at the end

How we work through it

We start at the door and work back, so the floor opens up as we go and you can see what's left. Anything that looks like it could matter, such as a box of papers, a tackle box or an old photo album, is set to one side for you to check. Donation items go in a separate stack and are dropped at a local charity once the truck is loaded. Scrap metal from old tools, bikes and shelving goes for recycling.

Why Cape Coral garages fill up

Many homes here have no basement, no attic you'd want to stand in, and a lanai that faces the weather. So the garage gets the overflow. Snowbird owners use it to store lanai furniture over the summer. Hurricane prep adds plywood, sandbags, generators and water jugs that never quite get put away. And the heat means anything stored there, from cardboard boxes to paint, breaks down faster than it would up north.

Before a sale or a move

A cleared garage photographs better and inspects easier, and buyers notice it. If the garage is part of a bigger clear-out, an estate or property cleanout covers the whole house in one booking. Single items can be added to the same truck, from a sofa to a dead garage freezer.

Garage cleanout questions

Do I have to sort everything first?

No. Mark what stays, or stand with us for the first few minutes and point. We work through the rest and check with you on anything that looks like it might matter: papers, photos, tools.

What about the paint cans?

Liquid paint, solvents, pool chemicals and fuel can't go on our truck. Lee County's Topaz Court facility in Fort Myers takes household chemicals free from residents. Empty, dry cans can go with the rest of the load.

Can you take the old shelving?

Yes. Freestanding metal and plastic shelving is unbolted and taken. Shelves fixed into the wall can come down too, though we'll leave the screw holes.
